Hey—I’m Alex Cloutier.

Why do I do this?

I’ve watched capable reps stall for avoidable reasons—thin discovery, no real “why now,” and single-threaded deals. Helping people fix that isn’t a side project for me; it’s my lane. I like making sellers and leaders calm, clear, and confident under pressure.

Where that comes from

I started before sunrise—literally. As a kid, I ran newspaper routes ( I know that dates me quite a bit, but in my defense, I started at the age of 10, and yes, those were different times), then added more until I had several to finish before school.

At home, my dad was building a security & loss-prevention company that grew past a hundred employees. I was always pitching in, learning how real businesses run and how decisions actually get made.

At 21, I put on a brand-new suit, carried a briefcase that I had just received for Christmas, walked on my own into the executive boardroom at the head office of a national retailer, and sold several high-ticket services for my family's company to the executive team.

I didn’t know anything—but I prepared as best as I knew at the time, and walked out with the deal. I walked in terrified, but walked out elated.

I liked how it felt; sales were for me.

Eventually, family tensions nudged me out of the family business; besides, security and loss prevention weren't my thing.

I moved into high-end retail as a commissioned sales representative (one of the major city newspapers even ran a piece on retail sales and interviewed me—yes, I’m the guy holding the duck), then after having met several successful telecom salespeople, I decided this was the industry for me.

I got really lucky; I was one of a small group of salespeople hired from thousands of candidates for a brand new wireless telecom startup, where I experienced formal sales training and coaching for the very first time. That changed how I viewed the job. From there, I kept moving—role by role, target by target.

Eventually, moved over to one of Canada’s most competitive and largest sales organizations, TELUS Corp, with over 100K employees, where I spent 16+ years helping teams hit their, year after year.

I sold hard for the role I wanted, then earned it as Sales Performance Manager: ride-alongs, live client meetings, and coaching in real time.

I built and ran a sales-certification program that became a benchmark in Canadian telecom—turning account managers into trusted advisors.

Later, as a Sales Management Consultant, I partnered with senior leaders on enablement and leadership programs that kept results climbing.

I worked with all teams accross Canada at one time or another; independent dealer sellers, mid-market sellers and large enterprise sellers.
